"This isn't about China — it's so much fucking easier if we let it be about China — it's about how the American tech industry is incurious, lazy, entitled, directionless and irresponsible."

I think the ending is crap, and it gets too preachy at some points, but its still a very well done move, certainly way better than most of the garbage the moneybags churn out these days

Just watched The Substance. Oh my. What a film. A masterpiece. I want to see more from the director!

She's Coralie Fargeat and I'm already looking for her first film, Revenge.

But The Substance is how movies used to be made, back in the day.

When did you last see a website with the "under construction" notice?

Many of mine have had it for nearly a year. I left Elementor to use generate blocks and the started to work on but kept getting distracted. Well, I resumed today on this one. How is it going?

Happening somewhere in Kampala this weekend. Every last Saturday of the night we gather to watch movies and this weekend someone decided we should do gangster films. I'm looking forward to unwinding a bit with lots of bullets and murder. I have seen all these films before, but especially look forward to re-watching City of God.

My timeline is so quiet today. I'm guessing a lot of people are posting stuff related to a certain country and is oligarchs, but I have muted a lot of words regarding news of their politics. #KeepTheFiltersOn

Hundreds of Beavers started strongly. Its a good comedy with lots of physical gags, and I hear reviews likening it to the classics from the 1920, but I think its not even close to what was achieved back then. This lacks a story and meanders about.... It would have been a great film if it were 40 minutes shorter, and if the makers had a better visial style.

Still its different from what is being produced at the moment, and a good one to chill with on a Sunday afternoon with some beers for laughs

I've a weird request. Eglash says the binary code came from divination http://www.ccru.net/digithype/Afrobinary.htm I use this in my stories, and in a seminar on 17thJan I'll talk to academics about researching divination for mathematical models, or code. I'll use shoe divination as example (see image for details). Who can help me describe this as code/math? I can see an "IF this, THEN that" but can this be stated in a logical mathematical way? Are there math or code illustrations to make it sound more than theory?

I'm hoping to use Raspberry Pi 5 to train filmmakers, but I have trouble installing apps. I particularly want KIT Scenarist/Starc (screenwriting), Audacity (audio editing), Kdenlive (video editing) and Gimp or Krita for photo editing. But looks like I have to be online to install anything, and with our slow internet, it will be a pain to do this in 8 or 10 machines. Anyone with ideas? #raspberry #kdenlive #krita #filmmaker

I still have trouble thinking any date after 2020 is the present. I seem stuck in my child-mind, where 2020 was a distant future. So today I saw the date 2023 in an article and it took me a few seconds to register that this was a whole year ago!

Am I the only one who reads negative reviews of books, films, etc, when I want to decide whether I want to get into it? I find negative reviews give me more insight into the work than positive reviews, which I mostly can't trust.
