I got to do one fun thing during Further Confusion.
I got to be a "judge" / spotter for the Critterlympics.
I had a blast, mostly making sure that the fursuiters didn't hurt themselves (and often being the butt of the joke.)
The fursuiters were the ones in the spotlight, exactly as they should have been.

I'm going to make a recommendation for folk in the United States.
Hold Trump to his campaign promises. ESPECIALLY his promise to lower the cost of groceries.
He campaigned against inflation.
Let him figure out how to lower the price of groceies when

Don't get righthanditis.
I came to Further Confusion without an at-con task.
I have now had literally only one hour to wander the convention. And my job at the convention isn't much fun. (Gofur den second.)
Yes, I know that the convention is much better because I've been there. But it still sucks that I haven't been able to enjoy myself.

If you're in Berkeley along Shattuck Avenue, and if you need a nice spot to study, work, or whatnot, a new café is opening.
The Roast&Toast café on Shattuck and Francisco is in a soft opening. But it has a good ambiance, very good coffee, pleasant music, and good people both behind the counter and studying there.
I'm not just recommending them because they gave me a free croissant at the end of their day. But they did. grin

I read about half the article about Neil Gaiman.
What disturbed me most was not the sex acts.
It was that he refused to understand "no".
If he wanted to be called "master", thousands of fans would be glad to do so.
If he wanted to bathe with a woman, then have sex in the bathtub, again -- no problem.
But he chose people who had no power. Then he ignored their no.
That was his evil.

I'm at Pancho Villa's in San Francisco.
Everywhere in the United States imitates the Mission-style burrito. Nowhere is it as good as the neighborhood where it came from.

I am way too stressed at this moment.
My stomach is rejecting a lot of foods. I suggest anything with meat, dairy, or egg, and it revolts... as well as anything too spicy. And, at the same time, I'm starving.
I was going to ask here for suggestions. Then I realized something incredibly obvious.
There is a vegan café near where I live.
I am drinking a juice with ginger, and I'm about to have a meal with rice, beans, seaweed, and tempeh. I think my stomach will accept that.
And they're playing upbeat Latin tropicalia music.
I will not starve to death today. Hopefully, tomorrow, my stomach will be more normal.

CNN: Calling women ‘household objects’ now permitted on Facebook after Meta updated its guidelines
Source: https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/07/tech/meta-hateful-conduct-policy-update-fact-check?utm_medium=social&utm_source=blueskyCNN&utm_content=2025-01-07T21%3A34%3A38
A few quotes from the article:
Meta on Tuesday also announced it would do away with its network of independent fact checkers in the United States and will instead rely on user-generated “community notes” to add context to posts... The systems will now be focused only on extreme violations such as child sexual exploitation and terrorism.
The company removed a prohibition against statements denying the existence of “protected” groups, such as statements that a certain group of people doesn’t or shouldn’t exist.
