My rule is: no scrolling app on my phone. Sitting down and scrolling can't be an activity I do, ever. No time limit, black and white display or self-discipline works. DELETE THEM.

There's an interview with a researcher of some sort on the radio, talking about "brain rot" (it's the word of the year according to Webster). The host asks her how to limit the impact of watching hours of short videos and she suggests curating your algorithm, using TikTok's search feature, setting a time limit and I'm screaming in my kitchen "JUST DON'T USE IT!! UNINSTALL INSTAGRAM AND TIKTOK AND YOUTUBE FROM YOUR PHONE YOU RUBES!!! DELETE YOUR ACCOUNTS!!!"

I'd like to add to this this. As a visual artist, I got more out of showing up IRL and making "gifts" than any marketing push/big break on social media. People, businesses and organisations WILL remember nice gestures, pro bono work or signal boosts. Making art for local businesses, orgs and friends has been hugely rewarding and surprise! It brings in more work!!
