My partner just sent me this. Mine was three weeks ago, but this is still so real.

4/ I got up, carried Amy to my office door where she jumped from my arms and ran for the proverbial hills, while I closed the door behind her just in time to stop Tasha from following suit. My team saw the whole thing, and I'm very grateful they all have a sense of humour and that many of them have cats themselves. My kids were very apologetic. Tasha was eventually sent back upstairs, and Amy is now napping in the laundry room nearby. #CatsOfMastodon

1/ My colleagues just got to watch me break up a cat fight over Teams. We're policy wonks and every couple of weeks, I host a discussion about what somebody's working on. My office is in the basement of our house, and I keep rather tight control of which cat can be down here because reasons. I let Amy come down often because she's the best behaved, and the other two pick on her. Today, though, one of my kids let Tasha in just before the call started, and I let it slide. #CatsOfMastodon

You know how there's a Dead Kennedys song called ""N*zi Punks Fuck Off"? I wish there was an equivalent for ignorant, hateful hippie types. But nothing seems to roll off the tongue as nicely. #music

Just saw a pretty cool #movie. It's called Parallel and just came out this year. It's about the multiverse, so it's clearly #SciFi , but there are no special effects or fancy sets, just a house and forest. Only 3 characters onscreen, plus a few mentioned but never shown. The story isn't complex, but it's meaningful and emotional. I was impressed. It's worth watching; if you have Kanopy through your local library you can do so for free. Avoid the trailer; it gives too much away. Enjoy! #movies

Long shot, but here goes. If anyone in USA/Can would be willing to adopt a Mexican rescue cat (no travel required), a cat rescuer I follow on Insta is really going through it right now. One of her own beloved cats was badly injured and is facing severe complications. She has said the most helpful thing people could do right now is adopt a cat from her as her facility is currently full. Link here: https://www.balamfoundation.org/

P.s. Thank you! here's one of my cats for your time.

My teenaged kid asked me to show them something in pop culture that freaked me out as a kid. I played Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" video. Reaction: "Oh. No, I do not like this". The discussion was over and I didn't even get to the other ones I planned to show.

:ms_exclamation_mark_red: the video features a bunch of disembodied mannequin parts moving erratically and at times, a bit too human-ly. Uncanny Valley stuff. I wouldn't want to give someone a nasty surprise.

The most amazing thing about it was just how calming the whole thing was. I've heard it said that nature is good for #neurodivergent folks, but I'm shocked. My #ADHD mind usually feels like an overactive pinball machine, and yet this setting turned the volume down on that in a way I've never experienced before. When I was swimming, I was able to focus so much better on things that don't require words - the sounds of water lapping and the wind in the trees, the waves gently rocking me...

1/ Partner and I celebrated our 25th anniversary by canoe #camping in Algonquin Park - a quintessentially Ontarian/Canadian experience. It was my first time in the backcountry and I'm so glad she talked me into it. It felt like living in a Tom Thomson painting. There's something so freeing about being in #nature with nobody else around, no car, and nothing to do but swim, read a book in the hammock, and just exist. It really is so good for the soul.
