I measured the effectiveness of some insulating blinds.
They are surprisingly good, with a U-value of about 1.6 W/°C/m^2.
The article contains more details than most people want to know.

After 4 winters, the capacity of my Tesla Powerwall 2 is declining by around 0.4 kWh per year i.e. about 3% of its nominal 13.5 kWh capacity.
Round Trip Efficiency approaches 90% in winter, but falls to 80% in summer.
Do you have any similar data?

A précis of the state of the Hinkley Point C Nuclear Reactor Project in the UK.
It ends with the lines:
"...but whether it will be seen as a good or a bad choice in years to come remains to be seen."

Rosie discusses the - frankly under-appreciated - role of engineering (as opposed to science) in the scaling of new renewable energy technologies.
It's a really important point with which I think Bill Hammack would agree.

In October I changed most of the radiators in the house.
Has this affected heat pump performance? Yes!
In this article I compare heat pump performance in November with November 2023. The weather was similar, but the COP improved by 17%.

@dwnews fascinating video looking at the issue of abandoned oil wells in Texas, and by implication in many other fields worldwide.
The capped wells eventually leak and emit methane and contaminate the groundwater.

If you have solar panels then you need pigeon protection. Sadly the protection was not installed with the panels back in 2020. And so today, after 4 years of prevarication, we finally installed pigeon-proof 'skirts' on the PV arrays.

As best as I can make out, about one fifth of the carbon atoms in my body were originally in a fossil fuel deposit.
The estimate is highly uncertain, but even so, I find it indicative of just how profoundly we have disturbed the carbon cycle.
I'd be happy to correct by estimate if you spot an error!
