As a longtime fan of the series I’m looking forward to Civ 7 coming out in February, but I have come around to thinking there should be a mechanic where if you develop “A.I.” in the tech tree you should have like 10 turns to win or the planet bakes ending your game. And accidentally discovering “Social Media” should send you back to the dawn of civilization.

A company I worked at 13+ years ago announced the software I used to work on is no longer being developed or sold, and has arranged cross-licensing from a competitor for folks to migrate. The reactions I’m seeing are… something.
Users: some justifiable frustration, disappointment, but also anger and conspiracies about the competitor.
Former engineer colleagues: sad, but yeah this was clearly coming after years and years of the company ignoring the product.
