@rebble @ishotjr Interestingly, some @GadgetBridge hackers have made inroads on getting wearable fitness data (steps, heartrate) synched to Android Health Connect (since Health Connect is AOSP and on-device only).

This segment of sidewalk/multi-use path between Yates Pond and the #Alewife T garage (connecting Linear Park path, the Minuteman path, and the Fitchburg Cutoff) is never cleared of snow and ice. This is a recurring problem. I've reported it to the city of #CambridgeMA, #MBTA, and #MassDCR multiple times over the years (including again this morning). The city at least responds to reports (generally to say they're not responsible, sometimes to say "resolved" after it's melted). Neither of the other two agencies have replied. We are aware of a "Dear Colleague" letter sent this morning by the United States Department of Education, taking a backward step on Title IX protections that ensure students’ rights to access education and school activities free from discrimination.
In California, "all" still means all. While the Trump Education Department announced that they will no longer protect all students from discrimination, California law is unaffected by recent changes to federal policy and continues to provide safeguards against discrimination and harassment based on gender, gender expression, gender identity, and sexual orientation. While federal guidance devolves, our commitment to safeguarding the rights of all students persists.

"President Trump signed an executive order today that does nothing but require the Secretary of Education to determine what federal education funds can legally be rescinded as a penalty for teaching curricula that President Trump finds objectionable.
We can give the Trump Administration that answer right now: nothing. It is against federal law for the White House to dictate what educators can and cannot teach by threatening to defund essential public services for students.
School curriculum should not vacillate back and forth depending on the occupant of the White House, which is why federal law already prohibits the federal government from leveraging grants to mandate specific instructional content in schools."

In a joint statement, environmental and public health officials said that the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) H5N1 virus is suspected to be the cause of death in both wild and domestic birds in several Massachusetts municipalities. The state has seen recurring incidents of the virus since early 2022, and earlier this month, officials said it was likely the cause of death for dozens of geese, swans, and other birds in Plymouth.

Coincidentally, four days ago, #PebbleWatch step counts stopped syncing to Google Fit (simultaneously on both my watch and my spouse's). I assume this is due to a back-end change, related to Google Fit reaching EOL... but I haven't seen anyone discussing it yet, on Reddit, etc. My spouse is participating in some "Step Bets" and is distressed about it! (Me, I hadn't even realized step counts were still syncing until I checked.) I'd love to know a workaround if there are any.

Our 12-yo Ford has a slow coolant leak. I now need to top it off with yellow motocraft antifreeze every 6-8 weeks (this frequency has increased over the last year). I never see any liquid under the car or on hoses in the engine compartment, nor smell anything in the cab. Trying to figure out if it's reasonable for me to pressure-test the radiator myself.

When I was a baby, my parents lived near #Caltech (for dad's chemistry postdoc) and #Pasadena City College, in a neighborhood so far spared from the current #wildfires, in a house built in 1916; their rent at the time was $125/month.
After we moved to NYC, my mom used to tell me longingly about the fruit trees -- apricot, orange, and grapefruit --overhanging our house. The grapefruit tree occasionally dropped hefty fruit on our bedroom roof, which would wake her (and me) up at night. "Truly it was paradise. I never wanted to leave California."
