[#]nowplaying Hermanos Guiterrez - Sonido Cosmico

I have no recollection how I stumbled across this, but is delightfully simple: two guitars and a minimal percussion and other instrumentation. Very reminiscent of Morricone soundtracks and, oddly, the first Borderlands game.

Note:

Example values I currently (2024-12-29T18:42:56+00:00) have:

/proc/uptime: 12143.72 12143.72

/proc/#/stat field 22: 173832870

This would make the process having started in the future.

Non-solutions (don't suggest these, pls):

I have a #Linux problem: find the start time of a process running in an LXC container (we are in the container).

Normally, the steps are:

Problem: uptime and /p/#/stat disagree on the uptime if we are in a container: the former has the container's uptime, the latter has the outer hosts uptime as a base. (I think...)

Ideas?

I am trying to bisect a GPU-related bug in #linux v6.13-rc3, and #git bisect, on the second step (i.e. telling it the first intermeidate commit is good) just spins on CPU, and has been for several minutes now. No I/O but burning on one core with no output. Anyone seen this before?

Maybe @kernellogger has?

git is v2.45.2

[#]nowplaying Red Snapper - Making Bones

Red Snapper were (are?) a band that set out to do the whole triphop thing (which wasn't a thing except the press insisted) but with real instruments: drumkit, upright bass, brass here and there. Some people find it too aggressive for their tastes (which may be due to the vocals). I love it for being so rough around the edges, and loud, and very in-your-face. "Image of You" is an outlier and then became a hit of theirs.

[#]nowplaying Maha Sohona - Endless Searcher

Quite apt for its title, I had been looking for this for a long time. At times, prices on Discogs were completely insane ($300+). They have since calmed down and I got a still-sealed copy a few weeks back. It sounds fantastic and I love the slow, rolling pace that builds to some fantastic crescendos.

[#]nowplaying Wamdue Project - King Of My Castle (Roy Melone's King Mix).

This is the version most people know. I also have the original version, which is a very different vibe, a bit less catchy, a bit less danceable, but still a great song.

I wonder how many people got introduced to Ghost In The Shell through this song's video.

[#]nowplaying Bastard Sword - S/T

Loud and raw and underground-sounding (except there are highly-skilled musicians at work). I don't even remember how I stumbled upon this, but I love it, if for nothing else but its perfect-imperfect sound.

TIL that Fila Brazillia's excellent album "Jump Leads" is still evailable at a normal price from their Bandcamp site: https://filabraz.bandcamp.com/album/jump-leads

21 quid for 3xLP is a steal, especially with music like this!

@kernellogger Does one report compile-time wearnings in RC kernels these days? Or is that detected automagically? I found one in 6.12-rc3, fortify-string.h:114:33:

./include/linux/fortify-string.h:114:33: warning: β€˜__builtin_memcpy’ reading between 65 and 536870904 bytes from a region of size 64 [-Wstringop-overread]

If I should report it, the next question is of course: where?

[#]nowplaying Apollo 440 - Electro Glide In Blue

What an album. I must have listened to this hundreds of times in the 90s and early 2000s. Such a wide variety of moods and styles.

I really wish there was a modern, well-mastered re-release.

[#]nowplaying Red Sparowes - The Fear Is Excruciating But Therein Lies The Answer

One of the first albums I bought right after getting back into #vinyl

I'm still sad that after the next album they sorta disappeared. If anyone has recommendations for similar music in complexity (without getting too "prog" and noodly), I am all ears.
