Update: Turns out it was not dumb at all!

In addition to the Mac Pro, the seller threw in a 30” Cinema Display for free. What the heck?? I can’t stop smiling! https://allamaraine.io/@hisaac/113906993538738064

"A More Personal Database" https://hisaac.net/blog/a-more-personal-database/

I’ve also been thinking about my longstanding dream of being the caretaker of a niche dataset that is freely accessible online. Something like the neons.org archive of tons of information on the Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler Neon. https://faq.neons.org/

I’ve been thinking lately about literary magazines. Like a simple magazine that collects essays, short stories, poems, etc. that are submitted, and then prints them in a nice book.

I think it would be interesting to produce an online literary magazine. I think the site’s content could be submitted literature, but also each piece’s web page would have unique web design to it. “Handcrafted artisanal” html and css.

Idea: An all day breakfast restaurant that serves breakfasts from around the world. Call it “International Diner”.

There’d be staples that are always on the menu, but then each month would feature a new country.

Wouldn’t it be cool to eat the same breakfast they do in Sudan? Korea? Sweden? I’d love to try them all!

I learned today that Bash does not support lexical scoping like I'd thought. This means that a function automatically inherits the scope of whatever calls it. I've been operating under the assumption that functions were pure, and only had access to arguments that are passed to it.

I am shook. I've been trying to write "functional" Bash, and this basically makes that impossible.

Thinking ahead to summer projects, I think I’ll try to find a lawnmower engine to rebuild. It would be a good way to learn some fundamentals of engine repair at a manageable scale.

It’d be fun to just get a car to wrench on, but I don’t think that’ll be feasible again for another year or two.

I'd like to find some good "traditional" Korean food in the Twin Cities. Like the kind with lots of little bowls of things. Anyone have recommendations?

I love deck building games, and my favorite by far is Ascension.

My wife has been trying to learn to play Ascension, but is having some trouble grokking the strategy. Anyone know of a deck building game that would be a simpler intro to the genre?

I’ve been doing this lately, listening to the albums that have classic yacht rock songs on them. I’ve been pleasantly surprised how good most of them are. I always assumed most of those bands were one hit wonders.

“Baker Street” is a classic, but I’ve never listened to the whole album. It’s quite nice!
