New #motorcycling lesson this morning from 11am until 1pm. Yep, the lack of daylight was 100% my Achilles heel.
De-li-cious ride today with some in-city stuff and then a nice dike ride alongside the river. No things of concern surfaced during those two hours.
We are so back! In 3 weeks I'll know if I'm worthy 🥰🏍️

While I appreciate this idea, it really depends on the broadcasting area. If you're a small-town #radio station, there just isn't enough local music out there to fill 15% of a day in a palatable way.
At my #localradio station I feature a song from our local music chart every day in my show, we've got a live local bands show on Friday nights, and we've got a full hour of local music on Saturday around lunchtime. It seems to be a good balance for us.

Had a late lesson today, 6pm-7:40pm. Though I was well-rested and the conditions were OK (it was dark, 3 °C and slightly rainy, visibility was good) I wasn't in my element.
I think I'm not comfortable in the dark and it messes with my basics, like shoulder checks and keeping/creating distance. I really messed up in those departments a few times today.
Learning's not a linear process. Still: this is annoying.

I was out on two pretty wheels tonight for two hours from 4:30pm.
Fairly unfriendly conditions! 0 °C + fog + dark, about 500m of sight. Quite the eye-opener what such humid coldness does to focus, even with proper winter gear.
Now I know better how that affects me and what I need to pay extra attention to if I end up in those conditions again.
Not the easiest ride but overall I did okay and learned things :)

Had a riding lesson this afternoon, and it was so good for the soul once again. We focused on a lot of the slow manoeuvres to make sure that all looks decent.
Enjoyed a bunch of delicious twisty dike roads, resulting in the face below. Ugh, I love this so much 🥰

The only gripe I can think of with these bikes is that the suspension is... not very kind when riding on a brick street. Really no biggie for me, especially since it's the only negative I can think of after months on these machines.
But I will keep an open mind and make my test rides once I can. There might very well be other street bikes which have better suspension and other benefits. The SV650 is a rather basic thing, after all.

Every time again during these lovely rides I get a little bit more enchanted by the #Suzuki #SV650 we use. Caught myself staring at it for a few good seconds while it was warming up last Friday, just listening to the warm V-Twin rhythm and appreciating the timeless looks. It's grown on me a lot.
After I pass for my license and it's time to shop for a second-hand, if I run into one of those it'd be a contender. I can't seem to dislike it, and neither do any of the reviews I've seen.

Learned something on the highway! I had just merged on, so I was still in the slow lane. 1 lane to the left, a car was slowly overtaking me, while a car in front of me on my lane was a bit slower than us.
Good insight (and 'duh' moment) from my instructor: I had ample room behind me to just start riding a tiny tad slower so I'd end up well behind the car to my left. Then I could've hopped 2 lanes to the left to overtake them quicker. Smarter than retaining almost the same speed as the others 😅

Took two more lessons over the past weeks to end the year nicely.
My eyes really are in a better spot lately. I'm riding much more by feeling, while keeping my gaze near the horizon when looking forward. This works great to improve my riding line and to automatically keep clear of the road markings. To me it seems the exam administrator was onto something with his remark.

Wednesday was my first time back on the road since the failed 🏍️ exam. As always: it was lovely to ride. Good to build up more experience in dark winter nights.
'Annoyingly' I did very well. Wish that important ride earlier was like this, hahaha.
One thing did pass a test: these heated gloves! My finger tips were still good after 2 hours in ~2 °C conditions. #nospon, can recommend.

And I wrenched on a bike for the first time in my life yesterday!
The buddy who got me to go for my license could use some extra hands with replacing brake discs & pads on his CBR 929RR, so we rolled that piece of art into his living room and went for it. Quite fun and educational 😁

Interesting side effect after this whole experience: while I already had a great deal of respect for these beautiful machines, after this life event it absolutely shot through the roof for me.
Like: when I come across video of someone pulling a wheelie, or someone jumping a little ramp with a sports bike, I just feel myself cringing and swiping away from it.
They're "just machines" but STOP IT, YOU'RE HURTING THE PRECIOUS BABY, THEY MUST BE CHERISHED 🥺

Personally, the first few days after the event I was most affected. It was like I completely shut down, mentally speaking. Physically present, but unable to let feelings in, let alone to express them.
'Luckily', there was something which was able to breathe new life into me so I could be there for myself and the people around me.
