You know you are going deep into #SQL query optimization when your web search results include PostgreSQL commit messages or source code.

Does a database engine (#SQL or #NoSQL) exists, that allows generating columns from other columns of other rows (maybe even from other tables) in a declarative way?
Something like PostgreSQL's generated columns without the same-row restriction: https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/ddl-generated-columns.html
I know this is doable using triggers or views or application logic, but it is exactly what I want to avoid doing.

We’ve done an epic #MountainBike ride from Budapest to Visegrád, Hungary yesterday, and at the end we agreed that filming this would have made a great sports-adventure-documentary. And that we should have ended the movie by high-fiving with the sunset behind us, not untypical for the genre.
In the end we made at least a still shot from that ending scene.

I've recently started self hosting @plausible, the privacy friendly web analytics software on @dokku and documented the process here:
https://salomvary.com/plausible-on-dokku.html
I'm using the self-hosted version for personal projects. For commercial ones, I strongly recommend paying for the hosted version, it's worth every cent and supports the open-source project.

I have not had the native #Facebook app on my iPhone for years as I only use FB for things I can't do elsewhere, like connecting with local communities, and the web app does the job.
I recently stumbled upon a glitch in the latter and installed the iOS app.
And it seems to be very aggressively trying to access my contacts every few hours, even if I say Not Now.
This is so bad for #privacy that I suspect a bug, although it would also not surprise me if it was not.

The only thing they made him install was Viber and only to call him and send him a picture of fake identity card/badge from the "authority". Apparently Viber allows a sender to completely delete messages and all history from the recipient's device. (According to the victim account, these disappeared before he deleted Viber.)
All phone numbers and bank accounts were domestic, and the attackers did not have foreign accent.

Done a bit of private investigation into my father's #scam case. Listened to his detailed personal account, poked around in his desktop computer and smartphone, Gmail, onlikne bank.
Unfortunately, at the peak of the panic realizing what he has done, he destroyed some evidence. Deleted Viber from the phone, "cleaned" the computer including deleting the browser history.
The attack appears to be very low tech. Found now evidence or hint that they gained access to his devices at all.

Fun fact, this music library has content I "purchased" on Napster in the late 90's, over an 56k modem.
Yea, I am that old.

I am aware there is this "library sync" thing in Music, but I think it's different from what I want.
iTunes on Mac used to be able to play tracks from any iPhone connected via cable, without permanently copying anything in any direction. That feature seems to be gone (likely long ago, haven't used it for years).
Search engines are also trash, can't find any traces of this old feature, no matter how I phrase the query.

Trying to find a way to listen to my music library on my iPhone while the phone is connected to my Mac via cable, using the phone as hotspot and charging it the same time.
Since Apple took away the 3.5mm jack (yes, I am oldschool, using a wired headphone) there is no simple way of listening to the music on the iPhone same time.
I've used AirPlay Receiver on the Mac with success in the past, but that no longer works.
iTunes (now Music) used to be able to play via cable, not anymore.
What now?

The bitter irony of the incident: the bank charged him 40 EUR for the transfer.
And the police's tone was borderline victim blaming.

This sucks big time, I'm already literally loosing sleep over the incident. With close to zero hope of money recovery, I keep think of the following:
One of the reasons I am scared of getting old is becoming vulnerable to online scam.

So it was a classic phone call with "we are the cybersecurity authority and we blocked your account for suspicious activity and you need to act now" scam.
He went to the cops and they pretty much laughed at him. Went to the bank which of course was also not able to promise anything but at least those did not humiliate him.

Online scammers stole 10k EUR from my father’s bank account, which was all his life savings. I know the chances of any recovery are very low, still wonder if it’s worth hiring someone to investigate (already reported to the police and the bank). Anything else one can/should do? (He lives in Hungary).
