schiaciatta al artemesia. I don't know why you can't get schiaciatta from bakeries in america. So I made my own. Tips: baking parchment helps hugely with the cleanup and avoiding sticking to pan; if you use glass baking pans like these it'll continue to cook for several minutes in the pan so either pull early from oven or remove from pans immediately)

(al artemesia: minced garlic, peppercorns, rosemary in the dough, dusted with rosemary and oregano after 2nd rise)

Five internet points for anyone identifying this bloom. Second photo has a bee, apparently it's a good producer.

My cryptanthus had a cryptanthus! (sorry about the mediocre photo, I don't have a macro lens for my DSLR) The pot is only two inches wide. Very cool and pleasing little bromeliad.

The other two cryptanthus have both shed pup plants, this one seems to want to stay attached for a while longer.

Committed an act of guerilla gardening today. Trees on my street have been having a bad past 5 years, breaking and falling, and the city has removed all but one of them. My building's HOA doesn't seem interested in replacing them, so I sweetened one of the now-empty sidewalk cutouts with some slightly used potting soil, stuck a surplus aeonium in there, and seeded the other four square feet with wildflowers. Now that most of the trees are gone the sidewalk cutouts get full sun. I'm curious how this will come out, whether anyone stomps the aeonium, whether I get blooms in the spring. Photo of course if it works. If the first one germinates I'll do another in 2-3 weeks.
