I HATE this feeling of helplessness when encountering bugs in SwiftUI. There’s nothing you can do. Either find weird workarounds that have other side effects, or go back to UIKit - which can be a lot of effort for things like navigation and also causes a lot of pain in a 100% SwiftUI app. It’s so frustrating.

@curtclifton @mattiem thanks for clearing this up! At least on my case I also didn’t see a noticeable difference in build times.

I‘ve heard from multiple sources, that tests with Swift Testing take dramatically longer than with XCTest because of the macros.
I just bulk-converted 500 tests just to see and the execution time is nearly identical. To be specific, even 1-2 seconds faster.

I would also like to leave other meta platforms, but it’s scary how dependent I am. I can’t leave insta because I’m promoting my music there. I can’t leave WA because in Germany, nearly everyone is using it. I can’t leave FB because stupidly I still use it as sign-in method for some accounts.

This lib is looking quite interesting 👀
Found it during endless search for a good Combine substitute… At the moment I have custom implementions of subjects.
I like the wait(…) func in AfluentTesting, since Swift Testing only offers 1 min of timeout

Do you have recommendations on what tool to use for a lightweight Swift blog? Options I found already:

I know they’re just gonna add USB-C and that’s it - but pleeeeease add support for multiple connected devices and switching on the fly like with the AirPods 🙏 That would actually be magical https://www.macrumors.com/2024/10/21/apple-new-magic-mouse-trackpad-keyboard/

Migrating to Swift 6 is a huge challenge in the current project I‘m working on and will take a long time. I get that it helps reducing racing conditions, but to be honest, it wasn’t a huge issue for us, I think we had one or two bugs due to racing conditions within the last months. On the other hand it causes much more bug risk now because of insecurity in using the new concurrency model and lacking interoperability with Combine which we are using a lot. Am I the only one feeling that way? 🥲

The new Pro iPhones seem like a decent upgrade, but I‘ll skip this year and just get a new battery. Pretty bummed they didn’t even mention German for #AppleIntelligence.
I really wanted to get the new AirPods Max but since they don’t have the new chip, it’s still not a big enough incentive for me to finally get a pair 🤷🏼♂️ The AirPods 4 seem like a pretty good deal though!
And I gotta say the titan milanaise band would look damn nice with my Ultra 😮💨
