Decided to give RedNote a spin, just to see what all the hubub was about since it seemed like most people were going there. Actually a pretty good replacement for TikTok. A lot of the user interface is in Mandarin but I was able to more or less figure out what was what. Learned a bit about Chinese culture as well!

Tis the season for tracking General Assembly bills again! Mostly looking for environmental and climate related legislation, among which are some great ones like SB1319 that requires quarterly monitoring and reporting on PFAs (forever chemicals) in publicly-owned wastewater facilities; HB2464 which requires the state Transportation Board to come up with a plan for identifying and removing invasive plant species along highways; SB192 requiring data centers to meet energy efficiency standards in order to qualify for certain tax exemptions, and HB2267 requiring DEQ to establish air quality monitoring of fence line communities and to report back their findings with recommendations to mitigate such pollution.
On the other side of the coin, Senator Richard Stuart is, for the third time, trying to strip the Air Pollution Control Board of any authority to set vehicle emissions standards (SB806). π

The clean drinking water outage in the city perfectly illustrates why the city should perhaps spend less time trying to figure out how to fund a casino nobody wants, and more time addressing basic infrastructure. Just saying. #rva
Edit: the city also neglected multiple schools with horrendous mold problems, continuously kicking the can down the road to the next council. Shameful.
