I'm sure this can be blamed on cars somehow.

Put another way, 273,000 people in a day decided that the experience of driving into Manhattan was worth less than $9.

273,000 fewer cars. How do we get some of that congestion pricing?

With the recent mentions of SFPD installing ALPRs but not wanting to say where, I tried to spot them on my ride home this evening. Turns out, it's not hard.

Hmm. I suspect these things are like every other modern device: constantly transmitting their identities and locations over multiple readily intercepted radio protocols.

On this day in I-don't-know-exactly-what-year regrettable Christmas card photos.
There's a chance I'm distantly related to these people, but I inherited neither the horizontality of brow nor the ability to levitate while in front of Christmas trees.

Odd experience of the evening: paused at a 4-way stop intersection because one car was acting like they wanted to break sequence and get through. Noticed the front end was hugely smashed, bumper dragging on the ground. As they passed, saw the whole right side was trashed, two tires shredded and flopping, bits of bodywork hanging off and whacking into parked cars. You could follow them by the trail of broken parts that fell off the thing for the next half mile or so.
If anyone in upper Noe encounters an unexplained trashed white sedan sitting on its rims, that might be the preceding two minutes of the story.

But they're not closing the connector to Congdon, so I wonder how they're going to handle the bike lane crossover deathmatch. Traffic in that lane is pretty damn fast and as oblivious as usual.

It's been six months since an elderly man was killed here by a driver who fled the scene and was never found.
The traffic lights SFMTA was finally motivated to install are physically there, and PG&E was there today doing what might conceivably have resulted in powering them.
The young man shown here is running across the unprotected crosswalk. Drivers approaching at freeway speeds had good visibility but never slowed.
