In important TGIF news...

I talked to my boss earlier this week about taking a week off in mid-Feb. She said "Absolutely, sure thing, but what about next week instead? Totally up to you, but you've just completed a heap of jobs, so next week would be a logical break point, but again, totally up to you."

I thought about it and said, ok yes, next week is good for me.

I've already rescheduled a heap of personal appointments into next week and booked some other things in as well. I guess getting things dealt with will reduce overall anxiety? Also, sleep-ins! (Hopefully.)

Pi loves both looking out the door and sitting on top of the 2-step ladder. 🤠 solved his dilemma by moving the ladder to the door.

[#]MissyMouse is a year old and has been home for a month now, and it was time for her cat vax booster and general health check.

They also weighed her. How much weight can a tiny cat put on in a month?

A whooping whole kilogram, apparently. She's increased in weight by 33%.

I guess she isn't really a tiny cat after all!

[#]PiTheBengal and #MissyMouse are on the rug beneath our chairs. Missy is chasing Pi's tail, which makes Pi annoyed* so it switches faster, which just delights Missy.

Pi could walk away at any time to stop the whole scenario, but it's been 5 minutes and he's still here, gently swishing his tail backwards and forwards.

Beep, pause for 48 seconds, beep, pause for 48 seconds, beep.

Yes, that's the sound of the battery in a smoke detector going flat just 2 years into its 10 year life span.

I do appreciate not having to change all the batteries every 6 months, but that is much cheaper than changing the whole device every 2 years.

I have 2 of the 4 to replace now. First one just started randomly going off (full alarm mode) at 3 in the morning.

Replacements ordered. It's supposedly a good brand, I've just been unlucky I guess

[#]MissyMouse has been with me for 3 weeks now. Last night was the first night I didn't sleep at home since she arrived, but she's also not shown any awareness of the bed during all that time.

Tonight she followed us to bed, jumped up and curled up on my arm.

I think she missed me.

A friend came to visit for morning tea today.

Friend was talking about some emotional stuff that had happened in her childhood, and #MissyMouse came running and jumped up on her lap, curling up and snuggling.
