Jack had his yearly checkup at the vet on Thursday. Everything was fine but he weighs 15 pounds (6.8 kg) which certainly doesn't make him a chonk but is a bit overweight. The vet would rather see him be in the range of 12-13 pounds (5.5-6 kg).

He's exhibited a lot of behavior consistent with anxiety including gobbling both his own food and food in the other cats' bowls which probably explains his weight gain. The vet gave us a package of Solliquin which is essentially a mix of green tea extract and a couple of other natural extracts and it has made a day & night difference in his behavior!

Jack has been resistant to being picked up and cuddled (although he likes to lie next to one of us and cuddle) but as the picture shows, that behavior has changed too.

Like many Lynx-point/Siamese Mix cats, Tudie's Siamese heritage was very much in view when we adopted her but her appearance has changed over the years. Still the softest fur I've ever encountered.

The picture on the left was the day we adopted her: May 1, 2024 while the picture on the right was taken yesterday.

I guess I haven't been keeping up with my cat taxes lately. This is from 2015 and shows my much-loved and deeply-missed boys Brio (the tabby) and Jax (the gray tuxedo).

Brio left us in 2019 after a bout with stomach cancer which required daily medications. He was 17 or 18. Jax left us this past January after months of special diet, subcutaneous fluids, and medications. Had he lived another couple of months he'd have been 18. If love alone could have kept them alive and well they'd both still be with us and live at least as long as we do.

Fascinating article. I knew Antonio Vivaldi wrote almost all of his works for the young women at an orphanage but I didn't realize how talented and well-known some of those young women were.

Somehow, posting this link on vivaldi.social seems particularly apt 😸
