In a regional emergency, if internet or cell phone service are spotty or down, how do you get emergency updates? How was it done pre-cell phone era? I don’t remember.

How does Salmonella contaminate eggs to warrant a 10,000 carton recall? It either is in the egg when it’s laid or gets into the egg afterwards. I’m curious about the science behind this recall.
