Despite the 23°F temperature, I did my first #citibike commute of #congestionpricing. Biggest surprises:
--traffic sewer on West 44th Street has been eliminated
--bike lane clear on 44th between 6th and 5th for the first time ever
--#Lyft normally charges $8.33 for a 1-mile #ebike ride
Not a huge time improvement because I would have ridden around all the cars anyway, but a much safer and more pleasant experience. Take note! #nyc

Update from second bus ride to city of #congestionpricing: bus left #KingstonNY 13 minutes late and is arriving at #PortAuthorityBusTerminal 9 minutes early.
The differentiator is the lack of gridlock in Midtown and no backups of single-occupancy SUVs in the #LincolnTunnel.
I credit congestion pricing with 22 minutes of saved time.

On average, I spend 4 days per week in #KingstonNY. There is constant honking from 5am to 11pm at the nearby intersection, because even when drivers are told what to do by a signal, they still cannot figure out what to do.
Over the past two weeks in this small city, drivers in separate incidents have killed one elderly resident and sent one child to the hospital. And for the 4th time, I was almost flattened by a driver turning without looking on Monday.

Here's Lyft providing a great statement of Lyft's values in #bikenyc: subsidizing congestion, while also increasing #bikeshare prices, and using #citibike infrastructure to promote car trips.
Note, too, that all of the bikes in the station are #ebikes, meaning that they require a per-minute user fee.

I didn't realize that the Holland/Lincoln Tunnel toll "credit" against congestion pricing is $3, so the NJ people are only paying $6 (not $9). And yet they are losing their minds. Meanwhile NY residents pay full price.

Took the bus into the city this evening. It was packed (50+ people) but the ride was smooth. In the Lincoln Tunnel, the operator thanked us for choosing an "eco-friendly" way to get to the city.
Then she praised #NYC for being "the first in the nation with this new program that is also eco-friendly." And she said she was moving into the city so that she can walk to work! You can't make this stuff up.

We have yet another #trafficviolence death in the City of #KingstonNY, two days after Christmas. The driver has multiple political connections, and local police did not release info about the crash for SIX days. Now they claim they are looking for witnesses, while also stating that the 77-yr-old victim was not in a crosswalk. But there IS a crosswalk exactly where he was struck down.

Meanwhile, NJ continues its bad-faith efforts to reject compromise and defend its residents' ability to drive on anything, anywhere, extracting wealth without shouldering any of the costs.
