Severance has done a great job at making me no longer be able to take the word founder seriously

“Maybe the next great network is Bluesky. And Mastodon. And Goodreads, Strava, Letterboxd, Glass, a hundred subreddits, and a million micro-communities spread across the Internet. Maybe this fragmented social landscape is a good thing.”

@ivory hey, have you guys ever considered applying filters to unread but already-loaded parts of the timeline? I was about 36h behind on Mastodon and added a filter for “Jake Paul" (because I really don't care about influencers punching each other), but 90% of the posts about him were in the part of my timeline that Ivory had already loaded, e.g. the filter only applied to new posts created after I made the filter. Or is that hard to do client-side?

Once every year or so I check back in whether large e-ink displays have gotten any cheaper, and every time I'm disappointed. Imagine how much cool stuff would be possible if you could get a 40-60" e-ink display for the couple of hundred bucks you'd spend today on a same-size TV.

@ivory hey, since Threads quote posts come into my feed the way any other quote posts do: how come when I click them, they don’t open in-app but in the browser? Is it a Threads-side issue?

But it does make me super grateful for federation, since I can follow Threads people on here but apply those same filters to their posts in my feed, even though Threads itself has no support for this.

One downside of the many changes happening in US politics over the past few weeks: I’ve had to add a half dozen new names and words to my filter lists to make my feed manageable again 🙃
