Greetings! We — Cornell on Fire — are inviting you to a meditation action on expressive rights and responsibilities this Friday, Dec. 6, from 12-1pm. See attached flyer.
There will be an element of intrigue tied to the @SRTurtleIsland "Don't Look Away" campaign. (It might involve AD White.) The actual meditation will be 30 minutes long: dress warmly and consider bringing 1-2 towels to serve as your sitting cushion. Outdoor winter meditation is renowned for its capacity to sharpen thought and underscore what really matters in life.
When: Friday, Dec. 6, from 12-1pm
Where: the Arts Quad in front of Goldwin Smith Hall (Cornell Ithaca campus)
Who: Cornell on Fire and anyone
Why: With Trump taking office next year, it is more vital than ever to organize to protect freedom of expression. Cornell published a new expressive policy draft and they're soliciting comments. We've drafted a response that defends our right to expressive freedom including disruptive protest, while also underscoring Cornell's responsibility to speak up in the face of climate injustice. The goal of our action is to direct attention to the fact that the entire Cornell community -- including protesters and the administration -- have not only a right but a responsibility to speak up for #climate justice.

This book is about all things consciousness, great and small. It starts by pointing to the key characteristic of consciousness, without realizing which it cannot be understood: like everything else about the mind, it is fundamentally a kind of computation.
