Has Google Drive become less usable, or was it always this bad? I'm finding its notifications are red herrings, the shortcuts simply fail, and the Desktop app creates a weird 'undead' region on my own drive, where the veil is thin but I have a hard time actually touching anything.

Trying to learn how to make amaretti, and the thing none of the recipes focus on is that the size of the cookies has everything to do with how long they need in the oven.

This "make balls approx 1 tbsp" stuff is nonsense!

I bought the Affinity Suite, finally. Half price, currently.

Having used it a few times via their free trial period, I totally think this is worth it. A hundred bucks for a non-subscription license that should easily outlast my laptop.

I am absolutely thrilled to be able to post one of those "Come work with me" posts!

Amazingly, my university (Simon Fraser, in Vancouver BC) has approved our hiring a tenure-track position in Indigenous Publishing!

To find out what that might mean, please see https://www.sfu.ca/publishing/news/jobs/assistant-professor-in-indigenous-publishing.html

"“So much for ‘Democracy Dies in Darkness’,” [Susan Rice] said, referring to the newspaper’s official slogan, adopted in 2017 under Bezos’s ownership. “This is the most hypocritical, chicken-shit move from a publication that is supposed to hold people in power to account.” - https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/oct/25/washington-post-endorsement-president-election

Oh, America, you are in deep shit.
