Side benefit of my @fluconf talk today: when I thought I would pre-record it I took the time to set up OBS for a decent recording setup. So I might actually sprinkle in smaller video comments (cause I really like what @fasterandworse has been doing with them)

People often question my strategy when criticizing organizations or influential people. What they don't understand is that "pissing of people who might be allied" is basically my main skill. The rest are all dump stats.

I really like about @fluconf how the organizers managed to get traditional conference sessions as well as written articles, films and whatnot into a coherent program.

I think looking back the main point of the talk is probably the whole "we don't need an open source torment Nexus" angle

My session at @fluconf has a schedule and stuff now:

https://fluconf.online/sessions/a-luddist-criticism-of-open-source-/

Saturday, 15:00 we can have a chat about "A luddist criticism of "Open Source"" (the session will be prerecorded and should have subtitles etc. if I manage to get it done today ;))

Drop a "like" here for me to have a bit of a gut feeling for how many people are interested.

It makes me so sad that David Golumbia didn't get the victory lap he deserved for his masterpiece "Cyberlibertarianism". I wished he would see how much his work affects people. We lost one of the great thinkers of the digital.

Deepseek's models are not the solution to the energy usage of #AI. Because they still need to big, wasteful models to be created before to distill them down. It makes inference better though. Which ain't nothing.

Also: They are Freeware not Open Source. You still have no idea what went into them.
