What was supposed to be a simple 30 minute post drafting session turned into a much longer thing because github actions no longer supports the ruby versions that were pinned in the pages work flow. Took a bit of tinkering and searching to find the right one.
I really need to stop being lazy, build locally and just push to an s3 bucket or some thing and point the domain to it

Hopefully, a habit that I'll stick to for a while: weekly links posts are back on the blog - https://ninad.pundaliks.in/blog/2025/01/weekly-links-02/

Feel free to look at the source code and tell me about all the terrible, horrible, no good things I've done in the code so far...

I've made some progress on the #ESP32 #adblocker! It lists nearby wifi networks, allows the user to store credentials for one of them, connects to that wifi after a reboot, and responds to a very basic dns query with its own ip address (like how captive portals work).
RC ends next week, I hope to have a working recursive dns server (no ipv6/dnssec/doh/dot support) that I can then continue building as I get time to add the ad blocking behavior to.

Anyone here interested in, or working with the #ESP32 board? I'm currently building a DNS adblocker (yes, https://github.com/s60sc/ESP32_AdBlocker/ exists and has actually matured a lot, and I've wanted to build my own take). Anyone up for a chat, or sharing notes for working with these tiny and powerful machines?
PS: the git repo is almost at a state where I'm comfortable sharing the work-in-progress, will be on GitHub soon

It's been a while since I wrote something publicly! I spent the past few days poking vlc to display some video streams from the network, and documented the story at https://ninad.pundaliks.in/blog/2024/09/old-pi-gets-a-new-life/
