Does the #pixelfed android app have a global feed? I see a 'discover' tab that promotes accounts and individual posts, but no actual feed

After much swearing and gnashing of teeth, I have calibrated my monitor and set the colour profile on each of my editing programs and system wide.
From this point forward any weirdness in the colour of my photos is entirely due to my artistic vision, and no longer subject to the vagaries of mismatched colour profiles.

Apparently, weighing yourself every two weeks is not enough, in and of itself, to make the number on the scale go down.

[#]Photography Q: does anyone know what these snaky little gooseneck lights are called? This is from Gregory Heisper's portrait of Tim Burton, where they're used primarily as props. But I think they'd be really useful for directing light in macro photography.
Heisler called them fiberoptic wands, but when O search for that I get something with dozens of coloured filaments, not a single directed beam as here.

As it turns out, this was an interaction with flymake-mode. ESS turns on flymake-mode, but I never set it up and don't use it. Turn it off via:
(setq ess-use-flymake nil)

Interesting listening to the retired civil servants complaining that they don't get the same dental benefits that current civil servants do.
Wonder if they've met the retired civil servants who were so vocal about how current civil servants shouldn't get a raise to keep up with inflation. The way they do with their indexed pensions.

I work on a laptop running Ubuntu #Linux. I can access almost everything I need from the work network, mostly using the Chrome browser. However, for a few things, mostly Adobe's proprietary extensions to PDF forms, I need Windows. I have a virtual machine on my Linux computer for this purpose.
Starting it up takes minutes, and opening Acrobat to fill in a single form regularly takes 15 minutes or more start to finish.
I've also got a desktop running windows in the lab down the hall. Once or twice a year I'll think, "this is dumb, I can just walk a few steps and use my Windows computer for this". So I do. And it takes just as long to go through all the boot/log-in/setup steps as my virtual machine.
It's a wonder we get anything done with #gc IT systems.

My last read for 2024, "A Quality Of Light" by #RichardWagamese. A poignant reflection on friendship and loyalty between boys on parallel spiritual journeys towards adulthood. A deeply insightful meditation on how we might work towards #reconciliation, weaving together perspectives from white and Indigenous, radical and conciliatory perspectives.
The ebook is currently $6, a great deal for a great read.
