A very good* exhibition: Choose Your Filter - opened at ZKM last Friday. An impressive (properly restored, elegantly arranged, well annotated) display of web browsers reinterpreted by artists.

Kotjatko @kotjatko came to us a year and a half ago and stayed. He is very independent and runs around Stuttgart every night or day. Thinner the line, bigger the territory he covered that day.

The big circle in the bottom is the new year eve, when we dared to lock him at home for his safety.

As you may know every year @despens makes custom Advent calendars for kids and me. https://art.teleportacia.org/something_for_everyone/

This year mine was a bit puzzling, until on day 8 I finally realized that it's produced with the help of brilliant https://eat-poop-you-robot.backface.net/ by @mash

On December 24 when all doors are open I'll update the post to show how the story ended.

If in #Stuttgart or not far, come on 4.12 19:30 to

Stadtbibliothek to listen to Silvio Lorusso @entreprecariat introducing "What Design Can't Do. Essays on Design and Disillusion." A must read, if you ask me.

Two years ago I gave an interview to be published in "Digital Art:1960s -- Now" by V&A. Just published

It ends with the statement I still stand for.

How far have we fallen if a journalistic text with links becomes a sensation. These links do not even lead to another server.

In my interface design class, talking about radio buttons, check boxes, menues, switches dilemma, i open material design guidelines 😲 πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ https://m2.material.io/components/checkboxes#usage

why "allow notifications" is not a switcher?

why "allow notifications" needs a twin "turn off notifications"?

If you read French and have access to LeMonde, there is a well informed article about GeoCities

https://www.lemonde.fr/pixels/article/2024/11/01/comment-geocities-a-democratise-l-usage-du-web-a-coups-de-sites-illisibles-et-de-gifs-animes_6371346_4408996.html

I don't think though that one should celebrate GeoCities' the 30th anniversary in November 2024 -- Beverly Hills Internet was founded in November 1994. It would be nice to organize some festivities in May 2025 -- May 1995 Bohnett invited his colleagues and friends to make their first web pages, or in Summer 2025 -- celebrating the anniversary of those first pages.
