The ceasefire in Gaza doesn't erase the devastation and it doesn't end the occupation.
Time to push for a lasting solution: the UK, France and Japan could recognise #Palestine as a state - a vital step towards peace and justice - but they're hesitating under huge pressure from Israel.
Join 1.7m signatories urging them to stand on the right side of history. Let's make it 2m voices standing in solidarity with the oppressed.

I see the next POTUS, Tweedle Don, plans to elevate crypto as soon as he's in power.
Well I ask you, how else are felons and criminals expected to launder money on an industrial scale without detection?!

[#]VeganChristmas dinner courtesy of my sister and brother-in-law. There was Asda vegan t*rkey under there as well as the home made mushroom and almond bake we have had every year since the 80s (we all turned vegetarian back then, the veganism is more recent thanks to my niece's encouragement). #Vegan versions of cauliflower cheese, p'gs in blankets and Yorkshire puds, plus lots of different veggies. Delicious! Time for a lie down now.

Apparently the BBC is already starting its campaign for making Farage the next UK PM giving him pride of place on a sh*t-stirring programme about migration tonight.
I wonder if it will give Sturgeon's riposte during the Brexit campaign that Scotland needs and welcomes migrants who make an enormous contribution to our society? The SNP being the only party treat migrants with respect during debates is what convinced me that Scotland needs to go its own way and become an independent country.

Depressing to read that the SNP has fallen in with giant energy companies green-washing agenda of gas power and the nonsense of “Carbon Capture and Storage” technology at Peterhead power station.
Sign the Scottish Greens campaign to help stop the expansion of gas-fired energy generation at Peterhead. Surely 2000 Scots care enough about the planet to sign this?!

Can you believe this is meant to be a Labour government?! #Scotland, this is our future under Westminster from now on as England drifts further and further to the right (even electing people like Nigel Fucking Farage to it FFS): to be ruled by people who admired Thatcher.

Excuse the pettiness, I should probably just be grateful they're shown on terrestrial TV, but I find it interesting/typical that #STV is showing the England games, but it isn't showing the #Scotland games. I can understand England not showing the Scotland games on ITV1, but isn't STV meant to be Scotland's channel?
Not only was the Scotland v Poland game relegated to ITV4, the programme including commentary was 2 hours 20 mins.
Today's England game is on STV and is on 3 hours and 15 mins.

Starmer: things will get worse before they get better
Not true for everyone though, eh, Sir Starmer?
Things have just got better for King Charles' finances - he has been given a pay rise of £45 million, so he'll be earning around £130 million.
I think we can expect Labour austerity to do exactly what Tory austerity did: funnel even more money to the rich by taking more from those who can least afford it.

Did I read it right that Sir Starmer's 'Labour' party is giving the green light to massively expand London City Airport with numbers increasing from 6½m to 9m passengers?!
If so, it's a devastating decision that brings the #ClimateCrisis even further forwards.
And even more investment in the south (of course).

"We already have Labour in office assuming the mantle of the Single Transferable Party that the Establishment requires to run the neoliberal order on its behalf for as long as is required."
[#]SingleTransferableParty is a description which strikes a chord. I think Westminster has actually been that way much longer than we think, it just became much more noticeable when authoritarian Sir Starmer started welcoming disaffected Tories into the Labour party.

Astonishing we don't hear more about Trump expecting other people to pick up his bills for him. I've read he will tell everyone he's buying the drinks but he'll leave the bar without paying the tab. Also that he can't hold his sad rallies in certain towns because he still owes $$ for his last rally. And now this, his plane can't even land at the nearest airport for refuelling because he owes money to the fueler. Added to his incessant grifting, I'm thinking he should be nicknamed #ParasiteTrump

So far we've already had:
Two child benefit cap to stay, forcing children to grow up in poverty
Removal of pensioners winter fuel allowance
Reopening of trade negotiations with Israel
Lies about deficit just being discovered when it was known before the election
Feels like every other day Labour is rewarding all those who voted for them in Scotland with contempt.
I've always had Starmer down as a #ToryTool and this lack of principles is what you get when #ToryTools get elected I guess.

[#]GE2024 very happy to see the Green vote up generally, but gutted that in Edinburgh East and Musselburgh their 10.2% potentially cost Tommy Sheppard his seat.
As it stands so far under FPTP Scottish Labour gets 35 seats with 40.9% of the vote and SNP gets 4 seats with 29.8%.
Call it a landslide or whatever you want, I call it a democratic deficit.

Jeremy Corbyn beats Labour in Islington North
Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn wins his seat as an independent with 24,120 votes.
He's been an MP in Islington for more than 40 years.
Labour's Praful Nargund trailed Corbyn by about 8,000 votes.

Added to this, Starmer has vocally supported war crimes and continuing genocide in Gaza while Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Wes Streeting has expressed a desire for more privatisation of the NHS.
Scotland truly deserves better.

Labour votes could cost Scotland dearly.
It's doubtful Starmer's Labour party would allow a puppet Scottish Labour government to make life materially better for people in Scotland compared to people in England when it has already unequivocally committed the UK to a continuation of Tory austerity. It will be actively looking to make savings.
So if Labour starts getting a majority of votes in Scotland, expect to start losing some if not most of these benefits.

Report: #AirPollution caused 8.1 million deaths worldwide in 2021
Children under five are particularly vulnerable to air pollution, leaving over 700,000 in this age group dead in 2021.
Burning #FossilFuels and biomass in sectors like transportation, residential homes, wildfires, and more - caused more than 90 per cent of global air pollution deaths and were found to be the “most consistent and accurate predictor of poor health outcomes around the world”
