Matt Stoller, who writes on monopoly power, has taken the time to actually READ the TikTok divestment law. In his Jan. 19 newsletter he provides crucial context and goes over the facts. I found this piece much more valuable than the hundreds of uninformed hot takes that I've seen over the past few days.

The coalition group Democracy Forward has announced "Democracy 2025", which is both a project and a web site. From their email announcement:

"Democracy Forward is launching a Legal Response Center that will coordinate real-time legal and policy analysis of early Trump-Vance actions. This analysis will help support legal challenges and create resources for the broad pro-democracy community in the early days and weeks of the Trump-Vance administration."

News seen today: The New York Times has blocked a pro-Palestine ad from AFSC, a Quaker organization.

Seen today: Democracy Fund, a mid-sized progressive foundation, today called attention in an update email to its "Declaration of Independence from Bipartisanship", released a full 4 years ago.

They came to the realization that attempting to be "bipartisan" in the current U.S. political climate requires sacrificing core moral principles, and they were thankfully unwilling to do that.

This is what her Twitter profile page currently displays, with a huge "I've moved to Bluesky" backdrop that so far Twitter isn't censoring. I took this screenshot without logging in.

She also maintains a Mastodon presence at https://mastodon.social/@GWillow however she hasn't posted since 2023. Maybe in 2025 we can persuade her to return. 🙂

HEADS UP: there are a lot of very low quality and outright grift/scam PACs now trying to exploit the Kamala Harris brand to raise money that then doesn't get spent to support Democrats. In many cases the funds get funneled to "consultants". Two articles:
