I thought that this might be the year I survived Whamageddon.

Had they been able to, I think both my parents would have taken the option (my father effectively did so last month, by electing to discontinue the medication keeping him alive).

And yes, Terry’s work on https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Pratchett:_Choosing_to_Die remains with me; I still watch it occasionally. There are times when an easy death is all we can hope for.

While this year has been challenging in some respects, I absolutely cannot fault this solar cycle. I've been trying to see Northern Lights in London for decades - and now I've seen it twice in one year.

Also: the best place to see them in my area is Ion Square Gardens, which is particularly apposite.
