The fuses on the card are okay so I'll crack open the router this weekend to make sure there's nothing obviously wrong. These were introduced in 2009 so electrolytics are immediately suspect.

Pulled the VWIC out of my new-to-me Cisco 2921 and ohhh, that's not so good. Good thing they're extremely cheap on eBay. I'm guessing someone plugged in either a console cable or an Ethernet cable. #retrocomputing #telecom

Does anyone have a reliable source for a CMOS DIP #z80 and SIO/2 in the US? I wasn't expecting the usual suspects to run out so quickly.

The faceplate for the drive has a broken tab and the metal is a little distorted but the rest of the system doesn't have a scratch on it so either just the tape drive got hit by another piece of equipment being installed in the rack or the drive was removed and dropped at some point.

More work on the Power 720 today. Last night I installed VIOS (basically virtual disk and virtual optical drive support) to see if I could get any functionality (since the system is not entitled.) It won't even boot from that partition so I wiped it and reinstalled AIX 7.2. I have 32GB coming as well as one more drive to add to IBM i's single instance storage pool.
The goal is to run AIX and i simultaneously and take it to DFW Retro's meetup next month. I'll have AIX on the local console, i on a 5250 emulator and the HMC on a third screen. I might also try upgrading i from V7R2 to V7R3 today. We'll see.
