Hiring Ben Johnson as the head coach is just the first step in making the Bears relevant. They have to get the right coordinators. Poles must draft better and smarter, and sign top free agent talent. Kevin Warren must get out out of the way on the football side of Halas Hall.

I've tried ice fishing a few times and it just didn't work for me. Perhaps sitting in one spot waiting for the fish to come to me instead of me moving to find them was the biggest issue.

I'm not always this laid back, but we'd been out for several days, so the initial adrenaline rush had subsided. I've always enjoyed that moment on a trip when the long haul comes into view - plenty of water to fish, plenty of time - and it no longer feels like a suicide mission.

I'm reading the Getty Villa grounds are on fire. I hope it does not spread to Villa proper.

These are a couple photos I took with a basic digital camera some years ago. We think classical columns were plain white, but in reality they were very colorful.

The view from my seat at 2009 Winter Classic at Wrigley Field.

(Fans in my section stood for the whole game so I was able to see past the column so the view was OK. )
