I’m baking my way through this heatwave, which was only made possible by reverse cycle air conditioning, which was only made affordable by 10kw solar panels and a big battery.

This year I’m going to re-read my favourite book series-in-the-making, The Tarot Sequence. The Last Sun, The Hanged Man and The Hourglass Throne are the first three books in this brilliant and funny series by KD Edwards.

I’m waiting patiently for book four, The Misfit Caravan, in 2026.

Yesterday I drove three kilometres from home to the city, found a free street park, did some shopping I’d been putting off, had lunch with a friend from Melbourne who is in town for the Tour Down Under, cheered in the amateur and professional cycling groups riding past as we sat outside a pub enjoying this glorious summer weather, and then drove home.

Next stop the Barossa Valley for TDU stage 2.
