If I could go back 2 decades and give advice to my younger self as a fresh developer just starting out in the industry, it would be to learn to touch type and to be proficient with Vim motions and the AWK language. Besides the increased efficiency, it would have saved me so much sanity on aggregate throughout the years 🙂

I'm in the process of finally learning the Vim motions by using Vim integrations in my IDEs. I've made a couple of custom key mappings (see https://gist.github.com/jphalip/f75ef966f38607a33709750d4eb3d087) but don't want to stray too much away from the "standards".
