Still finding downed branches after Storm Éowyn, another chance to see what the lichen gets up to above head height.
Also gave me a useful opportunity to explain to someone (of the neat & tidy gardening persuasion) that lichen doesn’t harm the trees they are growing on & that they add to the biodiversity. Next time I get a chance I’ll tell them about the link between the types of lichen present and air pollution.

I get emails from the Scottish government about the consultations currently open & on Monday 20th Jan, their email led with “did you know we are also on X..” and giving their X address. Never noticed that before.
Such bad timing.
They shouldn’t be on X, who do we contact to ask them to leave X?

Couldn’t help but be impressed with the happy moss growing on the edge of a pedestrian bridge over a small watercourse.

Another icy photo from yesterday, it has been cold enough for ice to form in the pitchers of my Sarracenia purpurea.
Will need to wait & see how the plant felt about that.

Am rereading the Murderbot diaries series by Martha Wells and wanted to shout out @murderbotbot
that posts Murderbot quotes (with spoilers) and definitely influenced my decision to start a re-read

The weather is starting to warm up after some days of freezing temps.
The ice is still around, and a few patches of frost.
I liked the way the bubbles had frozen in a container we had outside.

@kedara sorry if this is redundant info - I’m not seeing that you have any posts (might be server connection related)

@kedara hello, welcome to Mastodon. Looks like you’re doing a good job of following folks, hopefully you know about following hashtags for your interests too.
You might have more people follow you back once you have a couple of posts up (some people write an intro post with bio type info and the hashtag “ # introduction “ without the space)
Which can then be shared so you can find more like minded people.
Even just replying to a couple of posts shows you are a real person (I hope you are!)

Missing flowers this January day, so I was looking back at some of the summer flower photos, I liked the jumble of pink and purple colour we had at the back door herb (and flower) patch & thought others might like them too.

Out walking through Dundee today with my #NewYearPlantHunt head on.
Quite a lot in flower, including chickweed, Arabidopsis, mayweed, shepherds purse, groundsel, daisy, smooth sowthistle, and this dandelion.
The wind made it hard going to get in-focus photos. I think I managed so I’ll be able to add them to the plant hunt later.

It’s started!
The BSBI #NewYearPlantHunt
If you are in Britain or Ireland and can get out over the next 4 days to spot what’s in flower near you you can submit the info

(Via an app) so the Botanical society of Britain and Ireland can collate the info.
