The good thing is that networked Time Machine backups are so gentle, you hardly notice they're happening:

The Tony Williams Lifetime - Emergency!

Major gear shift to this fusion milestone, featuring Williams (on drums, of course), John McLaughlin (guitar), and Larry Young (organ).

Heavily on the “rock" and/or free side of fusion, lots of tempo changes, lots of distortion on the guitar, as well as mic-saturating organ.

Art Tatum & Ben Webster - The Tatum Group Masterpieces

Since we're already on Ben Webster, here's a 1956 recording of Webster and Tatum (it was Tatum’s last recording), playing together in their only album together.

A bit different than you might expect, since (as Allmusic points out) Tatum often continues playing the melody under Webster during his solos.

Anyway, originally on Verve, but reissued on Pablo by Granz (so he retained some LPs).

Gerry Mulligan Meets Ben Webster

1959 set, but might has well have been recorded yesterday, bringing together two great sax players, Mulligan on baritone and Webster on tenor.

They're joined by Jimmy Rowles (piano), Mel Lewis (drums), and Leroy Vinnegar (bass).

Swinging, "cool" jazz; good stuff, and another example of these “x meets y" series, playing styles against each other, which often works.

Count Basie / Kansas City 3 - For the Second Time

You know, I just don't care that these are late-period Basie albums...these Pablo LPs have great sound and thoroughly enjoyable performances, and this is no exception.

Basie is joined by Louie (Louis) Bellson (drums) and Ray Brown (bass).

Louien - Every Dream I Ever Had

For some reason, this is classified as "Folk", but, well, no.

It's basically pure pop, perhaps a bit on the orchestral side, sometimes a tad psychedelic.

Hard to find on physical media in the US (this copy was brought back from Norway), but it's in the various streaming stores.

(Note - the "Beef Flavor Paste" actually contains no Beef. So it's likely vegan. And they do not know what "Beef" means.)

I think, perhaps, they do not understand what "Vegan" means.

macOS 15.3 has been released. It includes a fix for the replicator failure in 15.2.

Once installed, SuperDuper “Erase, then copy" backups should start working again.

Thanks for your patience!

EDIT: I think I goofed, and this is the 15.3 RC, and LOOKED like a public release. Apologies for the inadvertent disclosure...it wasn't marked as such in the update notice.

I know Denis Villeneuve regretted making Blade Runner 2049, but every time I rewatch it, I like it more.

Save for one factor (the tank-ness of the water scene), it's wall-to-wall terrific.

Pretty rare that a sequel like this comes out that's even remotely close to good, let alone worthy of the original. Or, maybe, even better—and I've revered Blade Runner since I saw it in the theater when it came out.

Even the semi-subtle corporate upgrade path for Joi is such a thoughtful future idea…

Garbage - Copy Paste

RSDBF24 collection of Garbage covers, made over 30 years, with one new one - Love My Way.

These were all B-Sides of singles over that period, and it’s interesting to get them gathered up in one place.

Are any actual essential listening? No…

A question for Cocoa/macOS/NIB experts. We're trying to change the color of our progress bar in a NIB that is supported by macOS 10.13+.

controlTint can't be used because it was deprecated in 10.15 and is ignored. So we used the settings in the attached screenshot.

Note, though - on a Mac Studio with a Studio Display, this blinks when it's not being actively updated, every second.

Anyone know why, or have a better suggestion for adjusting the color in the nib?

Franz Ferdinand - The Human Fear

Latest from this great Scottish indie band. Definitely "feels" like Right Thoughts…, lots of crisp songwriting craft going on.
