Okay, I did the thing @Brilliantcrank. And many thanks to @mako, @Luke, @nazhamid and others for their support.
There's likely stuff that's broken, as it's my first blog and Ghost site. Be gentle. 😜

Methinks I’m going to start dabbling in sketchbook and illustration work again. Used to draw a ton, far less so now, but inspired recently. Also just got a set of watercolors, as well.

@keenan How are you enjoying Glass? I was a long-time Flickr account holder (still have one there) and had mildly dabbled with Glass a while back. Is it worth it? Curious what your take is, and if there's any solid community vibe there.

Holy hell, this is something I've never known and sounds, quite frankly, like some bonkers celestial superpower. https://noc.social/@todayilearned/113883654675182968

I have a solid feeling that this meme is going to get more and more popular over the next four years for a lot of folks.
Hoping Billy Dee Williams gets royalties.

Good lord, if I was in the area, I'd go to this pronto.
The Church in Long Island is hosting Some of Tom’s Typewriters: From the Collection of Tom Hanks. Featuring 35 typewriters from his cache of more than 300, the show spans nearly the full history of the object and was designed by Simon Doonan, the former creative director of Barneys New York.

Not mine, but FFS having a “My Year In Tacos" dataviz at the end of 2025 is the most inspiring quantified self goal I've seen all year.

With all the crazy in the world — and especially social media — let me just give a moment of thanks for the existence of Mastodon and the Fediverse and you wonderful people. This continues to remain a calmer, cozier park in the middle of the crazy and I absolutely appreciate it.
And yes, it harks back to The Early Days of the Internet, which — shitty connectivity and processing power aside — was fun, encouraging, exciting, supportive, and delightful.

I'll be thrilled that my daughter gets a measure of her attention handed back to her with the TikTok ban, but I have to say that there are aspects of the platform I admire. The low barrier to entry for creators, the (original) constraint on the duration of a clip, the ability to remix content, the editing tools…
Constraints and low barrier to entry allowed for a ton of creativity from folks who otherwise were intimidated by YouTube and the like.
Would love a grassroots version of this.

I've been reading history to feel better about how jacked things seem to be in the USA. Definitely similarities to pre-Civil War era and then the time of Teddy Roosevelt's life.
Wondering if I should learn more about the Dark Ages, though. This article about residents being encouraged to use bloodletting because of PFAS contamination is another yes vote for that, methinks.
