@jsnell I haven’t heard that “Farms, in Berkeley?” line in decades! I remember it from milk commercials and print ads, not ice cream. But probably both!

@atpfm what is the jingling in the background near the end of this week’s episode? I’m assuming just background noise, but just making sure it’s not a new @marcoarment sound effect?

@caseyliss do you still want a YoLink hub with Ethernet? I have a spare. Bought some water leak detectors a while ago and hadn’t installed yet, then heard @siracusa’s RecDiffs and bought some freezer temp sensors. Then discovered my leak detectors were in fact also YoLink, and now I have an extra hub I don’t know what to do with

@siracusa I didn’t know how heavily you edited the notes for @caseyliss. One thing that would help me (and hopefully others) is to round or truncate big numbers. Hearing that “a write speed of 5,481.32 megabytes per second is 37.9% faster than X” is hard for me to follow, and “[5400] is [roughly 40]% faster” would help me follow along. Just an idea!

@atpfm cassettes could be recorded on my whole life, so that was just a part of the deal. CDs had that huge gap in time where we were all consuming them, but they couldn’t be modified at all. Once we could create our own it was mind-blowing. Yes, cassette tapes had the same functionality, but it’s a false equivalency without that era where we couldn’t do it

Trigger warning: back-handed compliment incoming. @siracusa is so good at expounding on a topic unscripted, and just nailing it like a prepared speech. But I think his real superpower is biting his tongue when a co-host presents a problem that John has already discussed at length in a prior show 😉

@gruber I actually never liked the second hand on the Apple Watch. I always used Chronograph because the hand didn’t move, and now use another face without a seconds hand. For some reason the moving hand distracts me in a way that doesn’t bother me on a mechanical watch. So if they update all the watch faces I hope there’s an option to disable

@marcoarment does your nomad back case for? Mine does not seem to have the correct tolerance around the camera plateau

@siracusa regarding MagSafe, which I love, it does have a downside that it mandated the glass back. I think our phones would be better with an aluminum back, although I’m not giving up MagSafe for that

@atpfm since when do newspapers fold in thirds? A newspaper phone would fold on the vertical axis and then again on the horizontal, into 4 quadrants, not thirds
