For #FungiFriday, I wanted to post this picture I took in Hudson #Ohio on October 17, 2024. This #fungi was growing on the cut end of a dead log laying by the trail side in #CuyahogaValleyNationalPark. I really have no idea what it is, but it looked pretty cool.

For #FungiFriday I wanted to share this bracket #fungus I found growing on a stick in a wooded area in #PortAllen #Louisiana. My apps tell me this is a Hairy Hexagonia, (Hexagonia hydnoides). The upper surface of the fungus gives it this common name. These photos were taken on November 8, 2024.

For #FungiFriday I wanted to present this little clump of #mushrooms that popped up in my yard in #BatonRouge #Louisiana. The Seek App tells me it is the Ringless Honey Mushroom (Armillaria tabescens) and that it might be bioluminescent. I’ll have to go look at it tonight!

For #ThickTrunkTuesday I took a picture of these majestic spreading Live Oak trees. These trees are growing along a path at City Park in #BatonRouge #Louisiana. Since I took these pictures on Sunday 11/3/24, I guess it also could be a #SilentSunday picture.

In the spirit of #bloomscrolling I wanted to post these pictures of a “Dinner Plate” #Hibiscus that my neighbor is growing. He ordered it bare-root online and planted it. It has sprung up and in the course of a few weeks produced this gigantic #flower. It has many more buds, so it is likely to only become more spectacular!

For #FungiFriday I thought I’d share a picture of this interesting little #mushroom I found growing at #BrownCounty #StatePark in June 2010. According to my apps, this appears to be in the Genus Strobilomyces, which some call “Old Man of the Woods.” It’s a type of bolete in which the cap and stipe are covered in soft hairy or woolly scales.
