For #FungiFriday, I wanted to post this picture I took in Hudson #Ohio on October 17, 2024. This #fungi was growing on the cut end of a dead log laying by the trail side in #CuyahogaValleyNationalPark. I really have no idea what it is, but it looked pretty cool.

For #FungiFriday I wanted to share this bracket #fungus I found growing on a stick in a wooded area in #PortAllen #Louisiana. My apps tell me this is a Hairy Hexagonia, (Hexagonia hydnoides). The upper surface of the fungus gives it this common name. These photos were taken on November 8, 2024.

For #FungiFriday I wanted to present this little clump of #mushrooms that popped up in my yard in #BatonRouge #Louisiana. The Seek App tells me it is the Ringless Honey Mushroom (Armillaria tabescens) and that it might be bioluminescent. I’ll have to go look at it tonight!

In the spirit of #bloomscrolling I wanted to post these pictures of a “Dinner Plate” #Hibiscus that my neighbor is growing. He ordered it bare-root online and planted it. It has sprung up and in the course of a few weeks produced this gigantic #flower. It has many more buds, so it is likely to only become more spectacular!

For #FungiFriday I thought I’d share a picture of this interesting little #mushroom I found growing at #BrownCounty #StatePark in June 2010. According to my apps, this appears to be in the Genus Strobilomyces, which some call “Old Man of the Woods.” It’s a type of bolete in which the cap and stipe are covered in soft hairy or woolly scales.
