You can beat us with wires

You can beat us with chains

You can run out your rules

But you know you can't outrun the history train

I've seen a glorious day

I don't know a soul who's not been battered

I don't have a friend who feels at ease

I don't know a dream that's not been shattered

Or driven to its knees

But it's alright, it's alright

For we lived so well so long

Still, when I think of the

Road we're traveling on

I wonder what's gone wrong

“The séance happens first, then comes the engraving of the text. The text is the cherry on top, a means of setting the events in stone, a kind of chronicle. So went divination in the Shang dynasty.”

I like the political vibe and overall energy of this, but don't buy the "we can replace the government with this one app" naïveté. https://hooshmand.net/ai-anarchist-manifesto/?t

I'd love to read a book (or a blog) that would be something like the AI Anarchist Cookbook. Poison the corporate data sets! Open-source everything! Death to copyright! Train on your own data! Eliminate all rent-seekers! Disrupt every attempt by Big Tech to seek returns on capital or extract surplus value! Every computer, every community, every sentient being is sovereign!

There are only two passable arguments for wanting the Commanders to win vs. our Eagles today:

  1. You’re a lifelong Washington Football Franchise fan and it’s impossible for you to turn back now, even if you wanted to;

  1. Washington going to the Super Bowl would make Dan Snyder even more unhappy.

I don’t want to hear anything else!

It’s been longer since Pavement broke up than it was between The Beatles’ breakup and the appearance of The Beatles Anthology albums and documentaries

So I guess I’m asking:

Pavement Anthology when

Long before DEI became a “thing,” Black women flocked to federal civil service jobs in DC and elsewhere because the government didn’t discriminate against them. There’s really no such thing as the “deep state” conservative fantasy, but there is a class of civil service workers who make things work.

The so-called destruction of DEI programs is really just an attack on the idea that anybody can work for the government who isn’t a cis, straight white man. It’s an attempt not just to change hiring practices but push current civil servants out of the federal government.

Without these people (again, overwhelmingly Black women who’ve navigated the Byzantine application requirements for federal jobs, who’ve bought in to the meritocratic dream of credentials and government work), everything grinds to a halt. Good luck getting anything done without them.

You know how Star Wars has the fan-made Despecialized Editions? Yeah, I need that but for copies of Biggie albums with Sean Combs digitally erased out of them

Yes I know Biggie is also problematic but there’s levels to this and Puffy was always annoying

“He who dwells in the wide house of the world, stands in the correct station of the world, walks in the great path of the world; one who practices virtues along with the people when he is successful, and practices the Way alone when he is disappointed; one whose heart cannot be dissipated by the power of wealth and honors, who cannot be influenced by poverty or humble stations, who cannot be subdued by force and might—such a person is a great man.”
