This is a super helpful and clear writeup from @donnywals about converting XCTest tests of completion handler APIs (that use XCTestExpectation) to #Swift Testing.

TFW you resolve all your node dependency issues but are left with “ExperimentalWarning: Importing JSON modules is an experimental feature and might change at any time” just to keep you on your toes.

Meta/Threads just keeps getting more and more annoyed that I don’t install their app.

I didn’t find the “Apple is killing #Swift” blog post from October to be enlightening when I saw it the first 20 times.

Prompted by a cropped version of this figure via Paul Kedrovsky, I chased down the original of “Fastest-growing and fastest-declining jobs, 2025-2030” from https://www.weforum.org/publications/the-future-of-jobs-report-2025/in-full/2-jobs-outlook/. TL;DR… It continues to be a good time to be a software developer in spite of the general doom-and-gloom and layoffs in the tech industry.

That one of the only good things Ars could find at CES was a combo heater, scale and air filter installed in an ugly cat tower is… sad. https://mastodon.social/@arstechnica/113809732531060872

Around 2004(?), my daughter was dating the son of our family friends. He was being recruited by Facebook, and they went to a party at Zuckerberg’s house in Palo Alto. My daughter always said that the pool party in The Social Network movie did a great job capturing the scene. This guy got a nice offer from Facebook, but he turned it down because, he said, “Zuckerberg is an asshole.” Recent events prodded me to share this installment of “Real People of Silicon Valley”.

Quite a sharp contrast between the north and south water situation compared to “normal” in California this year, teeing up winter fire problems in SoCal 😢

My friend owns an Anchorage Alaska tour company and posts occasional pics to Facebook. Facebook has decided to obscure her photo by overlaying the useless “See related” button. Okay, I clicked on it just to see. It shows “related” Facebook marketplace items like snow chains 😵‍💫. AFAICT, she has to turn this AI crap off in her preferences, and I don’t have any option to get rid of it. Brilliant.

Wondering if the new free GitHub CoPilot would do a decent job at converting a bunch of existing XCTests to the new #Swift Testing framework, but inclined to think not.
