I opposed Do Not Track not because it was toothless, but because “I want Web sites to track me” wasn’t a realistic use case.
I don’t see how “I want Web sites to sell or share my personal info” is a realistic use case either.
If no-one actively wants a default setting, making it a setting is effectively punishing people for being less tech-literate.
