um.

wow.

That was, how do say... fucking terrible?

By ever metric, the worst movie I've seen on #monsterdon, or possibly ever.

Worst script, acting, props, set design, vfx, sfx, incidental music, direction, camera work.

They managed to take the one good idea in the movie, giant dom space Amazons, and ruin it. Hell, if they just had 75 minutes of beatnik army sergeant that would been better.

dah well. Thx for watching y'all! thx @Taweret for hosting! have a great week, stay safe, c u next Sunday!

Hey @stux! seeing some unusual behavior on mstdn.social today (avis not displaying, att'd images not displaying, notifications look different)

is this a result of a server update, or is something weird happening?

Oof. Hadn't seen that for almost 20 years - wayyy more gratuitous non-consensual sex stuff than I'd remembered, guess I blocked it out.

Dug the soundtrack, the clothes, the set design, but... oof.

Oh well. Thanks everyone for joining in! Thanks @Taweret for hosting! Good luck this week, see you next Sunday!

A question for the #Monsterdon community, just out of idle curiosity: do you tend to vote more for movies that you've seen before & loved/think would be enjoyed by the community, or for movies that you haven't seen?

Hunh. For a movie where like 98% of the dialogue was people explaining stuff, that didn't really make a lot of sense, did it?

Oh well. It did have a devil girl! From Mars! Let's hear it for truth in advertising!

Thanks everyone for watching along!

Thanks @Taweret for hosting! Have a great week & see y'all next Sunday!

So that was a motion picture! With sound! And turtlenecks! And skiing!

NGL, the best part was the turtlenecks... 2nd best was how they were trying to make a "Jaws, but in Colorado" movie, complete w/ Mayor who refuses to act on the news of gruesome deaths, because 'the economy.' 3rd was how the whole thing had this 're-using b-roll from human interest stories from ABC's Wide World of Sports re: skiing' vibe, with an hon. mention to the "Bi-athlete" storyline that they just dropped...

And if the logs were parallel to the camper when they knocked it over, how did so many end up jammed in the camper's back door?

Wait, why was there a big pile of logs out there in the middle of the woods?

Also, for how Ron-Jeremy-looking NASA guy was, it's remarkable how not horny he was? Like, the least horny of any of the named characters?

Also, not a scientist, but: I wouldn't keep all my chem lab glassware & bunsen burners, etc., right next to all my oscilloscopes. Just me!

So... huh. That was something?

Full marks to whoever did the score & incidental music!

Not sure what the deal was with the revival meeting subplot?

Also unsure of the physics of the black hole opening a portal to the giant spider universe? And why just 1 was giant, and the rest were regular sized? And why they were in geodes? Or what NASA has to do with giant spiders?

Dah well.

Props to the OG-Dr.-Who-Esque opening title music

If you're going to set up a black hole in rural WI, that's the way to go

Huh. I'm no filmmaker, or professional film critic, or whatever, but I feel like if your movie's runtime is 65 minutes, and you spend 30+ minutes on exposition... maybe that's more an episode of a TV show, than a movie?

Dah well. Thanks everyone for watching along! thanks @Taweret for hosting! Have a great week & see you next Sunday!
