There were a ton of other non-political facts she didn’t know or believe, and I was struck by the fact that no amount of policy campaigning would get through to this person. There’s the way she personally experiences the world, and that applies to everything. I don’t know what to do with this. 3/3

When we were landing in Perth and were given immigration forms to fill out, she was outraged. “Why do I have to fill this out? Why are they asking me this?” I told her I have to fill out the same thing when I enter the US. Again, she didn’t believe me. 2/3
