Apple iPhone 6 running Linux 6.13 and postmarketOS.

It's on.

Special Thanks to @riscv64 for doing the work to make this possible. I just got it booting with pmOS.

This progressed from packaging a few tools to packaging MacOS userspace real fast.

Update: Found a cable and jailbroke the device with checkra1n (sadly proprietary). Realized that a lot of the stuff needed for iPhone porting is not packaged in Alpine so I am doing that right now.

Okay, I just got two iphone 6's. Time for some postmarketOS porting. (After I find a lightning cable with a USB-A port.)

The infinite loop of fixing a bug in Lomiri on pmOS and finding / making a new one. Hopefully it can get merged soon(TM).

Feeling nice and rested after taking a break to spend time with family. I may have been on Fedi and still researching pmOS stuff (and learning C), but I haven't done any real work. Now I'm ready to get back into it!

Remember everybody: take breaks. :blobcatchewwire: I had to learn that the hard way and thank goodness I did.

I wonder if #m1n1 from #AsahiLinux would be a good candidate to help with the chainloading. Haven't looked too deeply into this other than giving up on #PongoOS.

I have become infatuated with #iPhone #JailBreak-ing and maybe #Linux on them. I wonder if it would be possible to chainload U-Boot from iBoot and somehow figure out how to make that persistent.

What is up with #iPhone jailbreaking methods not open-sourcing? From what I have read apparently it is to lower trolling and "copycats", but it seems that that happens anyways. I am mostly talking about #checkra1n since that seems to be the biggest worried about open-source. It said that it would open-source four years ago (almost five now) but that never happened.

How can I trust something that works so low-level without the code? Quite worrying imo.

Learning #C with K&R2 in 2024 is such a refreshing experience. Seeing the origins of a lot of language quirks and standards and using it myself feels like magic. It is also nice to just have a terminal open on my computer and be able to follow the book. No need to look at external links to "get a better picture".

I find it especially funny that it is trying to compare C to Fortran and Pascal to "make it easier to understand". Silly book, those are (pretty much) dead languages!

I guess it is about time to finally learn #C . I honestly think I did a disservice to myself by learning #RustLang as my first programming language since I never had to learn pointers or anything too low-level to understand how computers work :blobcatnervous:.

Also, would be nice to finally be able to contribute to all of my favorite #Linux kernel and middleware projects :blobcat_paint:. Maybe even finally get further with the #MediaTek MT6765 mainline effort??? Just really excited all-in-all.

Recently my earbuds broke so I am shopping for a new pair. Never thought I would have to add "does not include ChatGPT" to my earbuds shopping criteria!

I need to stop developing while sick. I worked on a feature for the whole afternoon only to realize that what I was doing made no sense for the feature I was working on.

I can't really say if I do the same with C++ because that makes even less sense to me. Object orientated programming is the bane of my existence. I just can't wrap my head around it.

I have absolutely no idea how to program in C so every time I patch software written in it I am pretty sure I am committing YandereDev levels of inefficiency.

"Why should we implement this breaking change that would completely obliterate any form of abi?"

It would be silly :3
