I've been watching Breaking Bad again recently. I have to be really careful to not append a random "..., bitch!" to the end of my sentences when something annoys me.

My three months old Roomba suddenly sounds like a jet turbine. Took it apart and it seems like the bearing on the blower motor is already gone. At least it doesn't sound particularly great when spinning it by hand. Great quality!

Let's see what their support says...

GDK_BACKEND=x11 kicad

This "fixes" it btw, so it's really Wayland in conjunction with the Nvidia drivers. It works fine on an AMD system under Wayland.

Golang is weird. I don't like it.

After reading that, I don't feel particularly bad that I didn't find anything. I am a bit bummed that I didn't check how the hardware state machine loads security critical bits from OTP like Aedan did, otherwise I might have found that as well. I only checked things out after the first ROM instruction and assumed a completely locked down chip running the challenge binary, so no code running that can execute reset calls or whatever.

I also have no access to a FIB, no custom laser injection machine and not even an EMFI pulse generator. I should really finally build myself a PicoEMP to change at least the latter.

I love how the factorio PKGBUILD looks around in folders like "Downloads" for the downloaded game just in case and then picks it up if it's there to build the package.

Broadcom is just simply a despicable company. Nobody should be doing business with them.

I can't wait to watch them fall on their face with their VMware business practices.

Meh. I am experiencing an annoying bug in recent KiCAD git HEAD: eeschema doesn't redraw its canvas unless I resize the window. I am not sure what component is at fault, so I am going to blame Wayland and the Nvidia drivers.

The main problem behind logging how much energy you use: Knowing how much energy you use.

Yesterday was particularly expensive: Around 0°C, heatpump goes brrr, solar panels covered with snow, car needed to be charged for a bit: 42.2kWh bought from the grid. 💸

So anybody knows yet which SoC is going to be in the Switch 2? I need to know if I need to get a new Tegra dev board or can just reach into my stash and pull a fitting one out.

edit: T239. Whatever that is. https://wccftech.com/nintendo-switch-2-8nm-soc-ampere-efficiency-goals/

Glitching its ROM is going to be "fun" given all the counter measures that you can see in the leaked revisited ROM code of the first Switch. I'd guess Nvidia added the random delays and repetitions of sensible operations to all following chips, no matter where they are used. The TX1 and even the TX2 was a walk in the park back then.
