Took a long time* but I’ve finally deleted all my Facebook posts (aside from family pictures or some holiday ones, as I do have relatives on there where that’s the only way of contact) and now I’ve shunted the #Facebook app off to the App Library.

Next step is to find an open source way of photo sharing for the family. That they will use! Oh and some non-Facebook #boardGame groups (UK based. With buy and sell)

Unfollowed some accounts. If you can’t use #ContentWarnings for obvious posts that need them then I won’t be following you. It’s fine to talk politics or whatever but stick it behind a CW. That’s the best feature of #Mastodon (oh and the second best is most of y’all use #AltText on images)

One of the best things about Mastodon is the #ContentWarnings and y’all are stopping using them and so I’m seeing all sorts of things (that damn picture of you know who doing the you know what is every other post!) that should be behind a CW.

I’m now down to 2017 in pruning most of my #Facebook posts. After I’ve finished going back in time it will be a case of limit the remaining posts to family members only.

After that, the next step will be to see if I can find board game communities elsewhere. Aim to eventually nuke Facebook (I’ve done Threads and Instagram)

Long(ish) game but screw Zuck and screw Meta.

Mildly confused. @pixelfed works from my Mac. But any attempt (be it on WiFi or cellular. Website or app) from my phone gets a #Cloudflare error as shown. On WiFi both the Mac and the iPhone have the same DNS entries. #Pixelfed

Threads and Instagram gone. Now I need to figure out what to do about Facebook. There’s a couple of #boardgames groups that are useful. I suspect it’s a case of lock down my profile (already pretty tightly locked down) and delete posts, remove “friends” I no longer interact with and just stick to posts in the groups.

Oh why did forums go away. Stupid centralisation of the internet.

Hardly any posts about #boardgames but quite a few “post a picture of you…” or “Quote with a gif that is your style…” and so on.

Conclusion: #Mastodon remains superior for actual board game content. Even if that means missing out on some of the “the big names”

It’s fine but it’s really not a good app. Worse though is people gushing about the community and how good the block button is. My people, Mastodon has had community and good block and mute controls for ages.

@brettspiele It’s not going to knock Fields of Arle off the top spot. Not even close. (or A Feast for Odin or Agricola from 2nd and 3rd) But it’s probably going to be one of my preferred Rosenberg titles over, say, Atiwa.

The jobs add an interesting dynamic of collecting a lot of resources by spending some other resources. But they’re not essential.

• Some will find the ‘guessing what others are playing’ card dynamic from Glass Roads cards better.

Talking about “player interaction” and games being “multiplayer solitaire” I don’t get this kind of #boardgames take.

1. Does interaction outside the game not matter? Do people not talk to their fellow gamers at the table…unless it’s only relating to the game?

2. No you cannot just play multiple solo games and compare the scores. There’s other real people involved. They will end up altering what you do.

However this person is entitled to their opinion.
