I usually watch Bond movies in the last week or so between Christmas and New Year’s, and this year I found myself wanting a Bond movie focusing on Ireland. That might get a bit ticklish, considering the whole thing about the Irish border, Brexit and the EU. But on the other hand, fuck it, I’m sure someone can come up with something good. Certainly better than a lot of the other options.

Watching the underrated #QuantumOfSolace for the ??? time. It’s interesting that a bunch of lefties think this is the only good/interesting Bond movie, but perhaps that’s not surprising considering how the villain poses as an NGO liberal instead of the usual sneering villain from a fictitious criminal group, or uniformed goon from Russia or North Korea. There are a lot of interesting thoughts in there, honestly.

Like every November the Fifth I’m watching V For Vendetta with a glass of whiskey. There’s going to be at least one more, probably more than that. What I dearly hope is that when I finish the movie, it will remain a terrible warning.

20 years ago I watched Dr Strangelove on election night because I knew Bush was going to win. Tonight I hope Harris wins and keeps this movie in the realm of science fiction.

Also it seems the scrabbling brain depression/anxiety weasels calm down or go away for a while if I lift weights. So I should be doing that in addition to not saying “I absolutely have to” do so many things so often. Plus sleep more, which is about the only thing that’s a need to do. That and not drink so much, though with the brain weasels quiet that gets a lot easier.
