As much fun as I'm having this semester, spending two to three hours (or more) per night, three hours a week, writing script copy for my college radio station is bloody exhausting. And I still have ten weeks to go.

Throwing this out there to my #Blind #Radio folks. Has anyone ever heard of a program called Text Groove, and is it accessible? Thanks?

So just throwing this out there to see what kind of response I get.
I recently started playing #Factorio as a #Blind person. I'm wondering who might be interested in watching a live playthrough on #Twitch, and possibly #Youtube, though I'd need to figure some things out first.

If any #Discord users have noticed that their same channel notification sounds have gone away, they apparently haven't. It seems like for whatever reason, they only work on channels you already have notifications enabled for. Which... seems to defeat the purpose of being in the same channel or not.
Edit: Apparently I joined a server that was muted by default and that's why it was happening..

For any #BOINC users out there, I'm trying to reinstall it on my desktop. I think my antivirus messed it up. I'm neither able to uninstall or install it properly, getting the same error in both cases. So clearly, I'm missing something somewhere. Anyone have any ideas?

For a while, I've been running AVG antivirus. I'd like to use BitDefender but of course it's completely inaccessible. At least, it was five years ago, and I doubt that's changed since.
Being at the mercy of developers feeling generous enough to code #accessibility into their products is insanely limiting, frustrating, and in some cases, outright dangerous. Since I'm not sure I trust Windows Defender to be good enough protection.

In a twist everyone saw coming, Apple Intelligence thinks the term coined is manufactured intelligence rather than #Mert.

I used to refer to artificial intelligence as "artificial intelligence." Then I started calling it "manufactured intelligence."
On the grounds it's not very smart, this morning I woke up with another idea.
I shall hence forth be referring to it as "manufactured response technology," or "mert," for short.
Give it a try, with whatever phrase you like.
"I love mert."
"I hate mert."
"Mert is destroying the planet."

Been a while since I used VAC, and something appears to have broken in the meantime. Ugh.

For the #StarTrek fans, particularly those who listen to shows from the Roddenberry Podcast Network. I'm curious who would be interested in a podcast called Trek After Dark, where a cohost and me explore Star Trek from the perspective of a blind person and piece together episodes without visuals. Occasionally discuss what the episode does or says about disability/neurodivergence/other small communities when relevant? I'm still nailing things down but that's a rough idea and I'm trying to gage interest.
I'm also looking for RPN's contact info in the hopes that maybe I can discuss this with them.

As much as I enjoy using #Thunderbird, this notice gets annoying after a while, especially because it interupts whatever my screen reader is saying, so I have to repeat the focused item to hear the subject line of an email, every single time. Does anyone have a way around this? #NVDA and #JAWS do the same thing.

Hey @KuJoe. I was wondering if there are any updates on the #Threads situation? We discussed possibly running a pole, did I miss it?

Question for the bilingual speakers out there. What is your second language and how well versed do you consider yourself in it? If you consider yourself to be proficient/fluent, how long did it take you to get to that point? I'm considering learning a second language in case I end up with call center work after I graduate, but not sure how long it'd take me to get to where I'd need to be to handle phonecalls. Boosts appreciated for reach as I have no idea what hashtags to use for this.

So...
I've been sitting on this for literal months. I'll be honest, the prospect of throwing this out into the void is terrifying but... I don't see any other way forward. I don't feel like I can count on my family to support me with this.
If you can donate, even $1 will mean something to me at this stage. If you can't, a share will tell me if it's worth trying to promote this more actively...

I love to #roleplay in #StarTrek. A few years ago, I wrote this piece for one of the groups I'm a part of. I still come back to it all this time later and can't believe I pulled it off.

I'm at the point where I'm considering blocking people who don't use #AltText in their images. It really does hurt people's engagement when they're not inclusive, and advocating for myself 24/7 gets exhausting.

So Applevis is being revived. Apparently, the website has been acquired by BeMyEyes. Am I the only one feeling a little... apprehensive? I'm happy the resources will still be around, but something about this doesn't sit right with me and I'm not sure what it is.
