Just the other day, I saw a performance comparison of terminal emulators on #Linux that showed both #Foot and #Kitty beating #Ghostty (new kid in town). While performance is indeed an important factor, we must also keep in mind the limiting factor that may completely negate the performance benefits of picking one over the other.

In my case, #Tmux is the limiting factor. As long as it's used, there's no reason to think about performance of terminal emulators. It's that much slow.

Just released a new version (v7) of my «Setup PostgreSQL» #github action. Unlike many others, my action runs on #Linux, #Windows and #macOS runners.

One cool feature that has been added in v7 is the ability to pick the #PostgreSQL version you want to launch (14, 15, 16, 17).

Another interesting feature is SSL support. It might be useful for driver developers, and I'm positive I have them among users.

I'm just happy I finally finished what I started months ago. 🥳

It's 2024, and #Mozilla #Firefox still doesn't support #NVIDIA hardware acceleration on #Linux. Sure, NVIDIA doesn't support VA-API, but Firefox literally blocks it in the code, so I can't even use the VAAPI->CUDA translation layer. 🫤

The only disappointment is that, for some reason, screen sharing stopped working with the #NVIDIA open drivers. I haven’t had a chance to investigate it yet, but I'm surprised to see it. Why would it stop working? 🤔

Over the past few months, I’ve seen posts about the new #NVIDIA open driver performing well on #Wayland. Since I'm that poor guy with an NVIDIA chip on board (RTX 2070 Super), I had to test it out. So where are we now?

[#]SwayWM 1.9 still flickers under both #GLES and #Vulkan renderers, likely due to its use of the 10-month-old #wlroots 0.17.

On #RiverWM 0.3.5 (wlroots 0.18), however, things are much smoother! Vulkan flickers occasionally, but GLES works damn good!
