It amazes me when I see idiots commenting on deportation news.

Ignoring for a second the not so small likelyhood that the "criminal" status of some may be heavily disputed, or just outright made up due to racism.

But they are telling people they arrested:

a bunch of cartel members

a terrorist

a bunch of child rapists

miscellaneous criminals (the worst kind)

And they'll just send them on a free flight home instead of well treating them as criminals? How nice! 🤦‍♂️

Yet idiots cheer this.

How fast is the Portuguese fastest train (Alfa Pendular)? Fast, with a max speed at ~220km/h. Yet still not as fast as many of the other European high speed trains (~300km/h).

The trip gets a bit noisy and bumpier than e.g. the Fresciarossa in Italy 🤭 and it is also usually late 🙄 but beats driving, and means I can clock in work hours (and even have meetings) while travelling.

Note: it only gets this fast on specific stretches (usually around 150-170 outside stations).

Got a copy of the Portuguese anarchist newspaper: A Batalha. It started in 1919 as the periodical of the CGT (General Confederation of Labour): an anarcho-syndicalist workers confederation. It was a daily newspaper on its heyday, and then published on/off especially during the dictatorship. Nowadays it is published every 3 months (I believe) since 2017. It contains art, interviews, historical writing, information on books, etc.

If you ever wondered how stricly religious is a culturally catholic smallish town in Portugal: this is a nativity scene in traditional folk art from my hometown.

Sometimes I feel that I just wandered right back into Roman times with the amount of monsters, devils, animals, etc in art. And that is paired with an almost deification of the various local saints and all their festivities! Some people also visit folk witches for various troubles, usually the same people that frequent church.
